
Processor SpeedsIntel has adopted a new naming convention for their processors which do not indicate the actual operating speed. This can be confusing depending which type of processor is in the laptop since newer P4's may use the 5xx series of names while the laptops based on Centrino or Pentium M CPU's use the 7xx series and the Celeron M's use the 3xx series. Below is a list of tables which include the processor name or rating, what speed they are, cache size (bigger is better) and power usage (watts). The power usage and operating speed, with the exception of the Celeron M, would actually vary due to power management technology such as Enhanced SpeedStep. The specifications in the following tables should be considered as maximums. Select Processor Type:
